In addition to the primary objective of developing a future doctor’s professional vocabulary, the Latin discipline carries significant humanitarian content that should be used in educational goals. The article explores how to develop professional ethical values in first-year medical students. To reach this goal, we propose using the original Latin text of the Hippocratic Oath. This paper examines the textbook on Latin and medical terminology by M. N. Chernyavsky, analyzes its historical and philological features, and offers methodological recommendations to start the examination of the historical document by medical students during the classes of the Student Scientific Society (SSS). The author mentions that dealing with an original historical text is significant for education of medical students. First-year medical students should start working with the essential fundamental ethical principles of the medical profession.
